ANTM Cycle 10 Episode 12 - Ready For My Close Up [watch]

May 9, 2008

I know I know… I skipped an episode. I can’t help it. Katarzyna’s elimination was too painful to recap. Let’s skip the sad talk and get on with the top 4.

Firstly, the videos: (thanks Cruelkiller22!)

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Recaps:

Me gosh my ANTM mood fell a lot now that Kata’s not in the bunch. So only short recaps of what is important!

All hail photography lessons! Paulina and Ann Shoket from Seventeen Magazine gave the girls a challenge on photography. Each of them had to take photos of Paulina (sounds easy, no?) and produce a good work of art while being a good director.

From top left clockwise: Whitney’s, Anya’s, Dominique’s & Fatima’s.

Challenge Winner: Fatima. She won an extra 50 frames in her next photoshoot.

WTF Fatima should quit and take up a job as a photographer already, not a model. Tee hee. You suck, Fatima.

Back at their loft the girls were soooo bored that they hung around the same spot all the time. It’s either the living room or the kitchen. Fatima practiced her walk (it sucked) and Dominique bragged on her self confidence, Whitney not listening one bit and Anya got frustrated at all the negative energy emitted by Dominique. They are all flabbergasted that Dominique is still in the competition.

House Bitch Winner: Dominique. Prize: Nil.

Lol Dominique rules at pulling the other girls down. And she eats in her bed. Go Dominique!

Photoshoot time! The theme this week is a black/white 50s era photoshoot in which the girls are movie stars caught by the paparazzi. Nigel know-it-all-Barker is the photographer. Urgh.

Anya Kop

Annoying-O-Meter Winner: Fatima. This girl doesn’t take in instructions at all. I won’t be surprised if she takes better pictures than Nigel, being the challenge winner and all that. Nigel should switch places with her and take pictures with the male model. Now that’s something!

In panel, Anya’s photo wowed the judges, although it was a photo taken by accident. Whitney’s photo showed her beauty, but the judges wanted more. Fatima’s was all smiley. Who smiles to the paparazzi? The judges hated that she never listens. In a nutshell, she sucks. Dominique was critiqued to be too… Drag. Hello? Boy the judges are slow.

Best Judge Of The Night: Paulina. She’s the only sane judge with Miss J.

ROLL CALL!

  1. Anya
  2. Whitney

Bottom 2: Dominique and Fatima.

Dominique for being to drag and Fatima because she sucks.

Eliminated: Dominique was cut.

++++

Recaps:

This episode is sooo… empty without Katarzyna’s presence. *shudders* Come back, Kata!

I like the photographing with Paulina challenge, it pretty much shows which girl has the most potential in photography and least in modelling. Evidently, Fatima won. Ha! Fatima, you suck.

I am really disappointed Dominique was sent home. She’s the best of the underrated bunch. I was hoping for Fatima . She acts like she’s a know it all. In fact, she sucks.

Anya’s photo is stunning. S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G.

Anya for the win! Please!

++++

CoverGirl Of The Week:

Whitney Thompson for the first time.

++++

Next Episode:

The finale! Can’t wait! The final runway looks ‘normal’ and not like those stupid runways they use in Cycles 7 and 9.

MUSHROOM ALERT! Saleisha will make an appearance! Aaaah! RUN!

Anya vs Whitney vs Fatima. Who will win?

I’m strongly avoiding spoilers, so PLEASE DO NOT POST THEM HERE. Thanks!

American Idol 7 - Top 4 - Studio Recordings [download]

May 8, 2008

This week definitely produced a much better top 4 than a disastrous top 5.

- American Idol 7 - Top 4 Studio Recordings -

Songs That Shaped Rock n Roll Week

Track List:

  1. David Cook - “Hungry Like The Wolf”
  2. Syesha Mercado - “Proud Mary”
  3. Jason Castro - “Mr Tambourine Man”
  4. David Archuleta - “Love Me Tender”

I actually love all of the tracks! Each are special in their own way.

Syesha’s to me is the best, she sang the song superbly, it’s uptempo and very fun to listen to.

David Cook produced another great track, his rock genre still intact. David Archuleta does what he does best, ballads.

Jason’s is very nice to the ears, and I’m ashamed to say, I like it a lot too.

Please note: All the contestants only recorded ONE song, not all of them.

Enjoy! What do you think? Please leave comments!

American Idol 7 - Top 4 Results - Goodbye Jason Castro! [recap]

May 8, 2008

ANTI JASON VICTORY! Victory screech! We shot and killed the sheriff aka tambourine man!!

Goodbye Dreadful Dreadlocks! I can’t help but rejoice at this glorious moment!

Oh my. How… Unflattering.

The last 2 (NOT bottom 2) to be let out of their little hiding place backstage were Jason and of course, Syesha. As everyone in the world predicted, Mr Sheriff who forgot his lyrics was sent home. Muahahaha! It’s good that Jason had already packed his bags as Simon instructed. Good sheriff.

David Archuleta was first given the green light, followed by Mr Wolf, David Cook. Idol wouldn’t dare to touch them.

Meanwhile, in the usual Q&A session, someone asked Simon why he isn’t knighted by the Queen. Yet, my friends, yet. And someone else told him to consider a job as 007. I can’t really imagine it… Can you? The name’s Cowell, Simon Cowell. XD

Maroon 5 was back on stage to perform “If I Never See Your Face Again“, the next single off their album. Meh I don’t like that song.

After Maroon 5, Bo Bice graced the stage for another performance. I really couldn’t stand all the hold-up so I switched the channels. Seriously. Congrats to Bo anyway for a new baby is coming.

In a nutshell, what a joyous night, don’t you agree?

ANTI-JASON VICTORY!

American Idol 7 - Top 4 [recap]

May 7, 2008

What a night full of ups and downs. Go home, Jason! Simon wants you packing!

This week’s theme - Songs that shaped Rock n Roll!

Spotted in the crowd, Carly Smithson! Hullo Carly! Mama Carly was supporting all her babies tonight.

First up was David Cook. (WTF? Cook taking the death spot?) He sang “Hungry Like The Wolf“, and I wasn’t really hungry after watching, but it was a good performance, coming from Mr. Cook himself. His performance here.

Then was Syesha Mercado, who looked awesomely pretty with her straightened hair. She sang another upbeat song, “Proud Mary“. Syesha was again in her zone with all the dancing and the wild singing. She looked like she already won. Whoohooo! Her performance here.

Getting the third spot, Jason Castro. Someone in the audience made a cardboard Jason and stuck black strings all over the head. At first, I thought it was Simon with snakes on his head. Oh well. Mr. Dreadful Dreadlocks sang “I Shot The Sheriff“. My goodness it was soooo hard to watch. My back still aches watching him. Ouch. The judges hated hated it, even dear Paula. Ha! I Shot The Castro! Anti Castro victory! His dreadful performance here.

Pimp spot went to, duh David Archuleta. Little David sang “Stand By Me”. Oi! Josiah Leming, he’s stealing your song! As soon as he announced he was singing that song I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes, cause I knew he’d pull it off, plus it’s a popular song. He did, and even tried to mix in Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls” at a point. (urgh, I HATE that song) He did good. His performance here.

We came back with David Cook who sang “Baba O’Reilly“. It was definitely better than the first one, that’s all I have to say. Simon commented, “Welcome back, David Cook”. His performance here.

Here comes the emotional side of the show! Syesha sang “Change Is Gonna Come“. After giving a superbly (but a little pushed) done performance, Syesha got different reviews from the judges. Randy thought it was over the top on the vocals, and Paula gave her major props for her amazing vocals. Mysterious Simon, surpringly, agreed with Paula, and sent Syesha into tears. I think it was the first time she really cried in front of everyone, and it definitely brought a wave of emotion in the studio. Oh, she looked like a star. GO SYESHA! Her performance here.

The Sheriff who I shot, Jason Castro sang “Mr Tambourine Man“. I thought it was a nice comeback, but weak. Jason even admitted he forgot the lyrics to the song. Tsk tsk tsk. The judges hated it once more, and Simon wanted to help Jason to pack his luggage. Ouch. His performance here.

Last but not least, David Archuleta sang a nice “Love Me Tender“. It was definitely a tender song choice and he sang it tenderly. Lol. Simon said he crushed the competition. Wow, that’s high praise. His performance here.

__________

ANTI-JASON CASTRO!!

Top 4, it’s going to be a top 2 pack and a bottom 2 pack. Top 4 spot, the shock elimination spot, where Chris Daughtry was sent packing. Will it happen once more to one of the Davids? I don’t think so. They’re too precious to Idol.

So that leaves us with Jason, and I’m sorry to say, Syesha.

My bottom 2 predictions: Jason, Syesha

My elimination prediction: Jason

PLEASE SEND JASON HOME HE DOES NOT DESERVE THE FINAL 3 SPOT.

Go Syesha!

The top 3 get to sing 3 songs next week, one of their choice, one chosen by the judges, and one from the producers.

American Idol 7 - Top 5 - Studio Recordings [download]

May 1, 2008

Neil Diamond week was rather disastrous, but can the Idols show their stuff in their studio versions? Not really.

- American Idol 7 - Top 5 Studio Recordings -

Neil Diamond Week

Track List:

  1. Jason Castro - “Forever In Blue Jeans”
  2. David Cook - “I’m Alive”
  3. Brooke White - “I Am… I Said”
  4. David Archuleta - “Sweet Caroline”
  5. Syesha Mercado - “Hello Again”

Everyone is in their own genre this week, the tracks aren’t that superb though.

I guess David Cook’s the best, he showcases the modern day rock. Syesha does what she does best, her vocals are great. Brooke is also in her element, her track is nice to the ears.

Daivd A’s is nice, while Jason’s is… meh.

Enjoy! What do you think? Please leave comments!

American Idol 7 - Top 5 Results - Goodbye Brooke White [recap]

May 1, 2008

With the ultimate prize so close in hand, we had to say goodbye to our favourite nanny, Brooke White.

Jason was first given the pass to the sofas after the group number. Awwww man! Of course, he wore his blue jeans. The two Davids were then given the good news too, leaving Brooke and Syesha.

Ryan didn’t announce the bottom 2 this week, so I guess Syesha wasn’t in that category, thank goodness. Syesha, who looked prepared to leave, was shocked when it was Brooke’s turn to go. Brooke immediately burst into tears and choked on her song, while the others stood by her awkwardly. Except Mr. Castro of course, who looked happy that he made it to the next round. *smacks head*

Let’s do some more maths! Top 5 - Brooke White = 3 guys 1 girl. Oh wow. It’s like Season 6 all over again, except this time, the guys are dominating.

Meanwhile, Ryan announced that he lurked around online and proved that all the rumours regarding Paula’s weird demeanor last night was fake, and they all love her. Irrelevant much?

Performing tonight was Natasha Bedingfield, who sang her new single “Pocketful of Sunshine”. Natasha looked awesome and sounded great. Go Natasha! The mentor himself, Neil Diamond sang as well.

We gained immense knowledge tonight as Simon’s ex girlfriend, Tara Miller called in to ask Simon whether he enjoyed their little kiss in his backyard when he was 9. 9? Wow. Simon sure is smooth. Ryan must be jealous.

Spotted in the crowd, Gina Glocksen from Season 6 (go Gina!) sitting with Season 4’s Constantine Maroulis, and Season 5’s Ace Young right in front of them. Kristy Lee Cook was also in the audience, cheering for her fellow friends. Got your horse back, Kristy?

So Syesha has edged another round, the Davids continue to dominate, while Jason is in his own happy world. My guess is that Syesha will pass Jason for another week, and landing in third like Vonzell in Season 4, while the dream team of David vs David take on the finale.

Rock n Roll theme is up next week! I predict a glorious night for Cook, and a downfall for Jason.

MDOC Victory! XD

American Idol 7 - Top 5 [recap]

April 30, 2008

To sum it up, tonight was, as Simon would say, an utter chaos.

As usual, the top 5 sang 2 songs each, but clever Idol wanted to save time by squeezing 10 performances in an hour. Let’s do some maths! 5 x 2 = 10. 10 x 60minutes = mess. I would say this is the worst week ever in Season 7.

There were new Coke bottles/cups/mugs whatever you want to call them. I wonder what they fill them with? Coke? Simon drank a lot tonight. And was Paula on ‘coke’? I didn’t know she was psychic, she could foresee Jason’s 2nd song before he even sang. Judges + Coke = Mess!

Random note, someone’s husband has a guy crush on Ryan, and Simon is the Governor of Cowell-fornia. Okay.

Here are my rankings of the night:

5. Jason Castro

Songs: “Forever In Blue Jeans” & “September Morn”

Jason x 2 songs = mess! I think his song choice was ironically spot on. Jason wears blue jeans every week. Forever in blue jeans. Please leave in blue jeans as well. Even the judges disliked him this week. Poor Paula… I can barely watch him perform, he’s just soooo boring. Jason + performing = Zzzzzzz….

4. David Archuleta

Songs: “Sweet Caroline” & “America”

David can be the runner up in the Most Boring Idol. He just comes back week after week with the same style and the same vocals and the same thing over and over again it’s tiring. David’s old moves x 12 = Hell. Nevertheless he has screaming little girls behind him to back him up, and a pumped Randy Jackson never fail to praise his ’singing ability’ (to put people to sleep?) Zzzzz… And what’s up with the patriotic song? Oh so he’s going for the Kristy Lee Cook route. Oh well I guess that works.

3. Brooke White

Songs: “I’m A Believer” & “I Am… I Said

Brooke’s 2nd song made up hugely for her terrible first one. “I’m A Believer” was a total mess. I loved her second performance with the piano, it was the old Brooke who sang “Let It Be” in the top 12 that we all love. The judges all loved her comeback after last week’s incident. Did anyone notice Paula’s rambling about Idol Gives Back? Uhhhhh… Brooke + Piano = awesome.

2. David Cook

Songs: “I’m Alive” & “All I Really Need Is You”

David deserves credit for coming back strong week after week. This week definitely wasn’t his strongest, but it was better than his *ahem* fellow contestants. “I’m Alive” was nice, with the guitar, and “All I Really Need Is You”, with the guitar too, was great. Brilliantly done, Cook can do no wrong. Studio version would be awesome. Cook + Emo Hair < Cook + Rocker Hair. Agreed?

1. Syesha Mercado

Songs: “Hello Again” & “Thank The Lord For The Nighttime”

What an appropriate song choice. Hello again Syesha! After being in the bottom 2 for countless goodness knows how many times, Syesha is back to prove herself Idol-worthy. Crazy finally, Syehsa got the pimped spot! Syesha sported a new, straightened (and curled at the end?) hairstyle, making her look more grown up and beautiful. “Hello Again” showed a vulnerable side of her, while her 2nd song lived up the whole place with her hand-clapping rhythm. Syesha never fails to smile even though hitting low points week after week, she is one heck of a lady. In the remaining final 5, she’s a shining star.

__________

I’m still in my anti-Jason mood. Wait… I’m always in that mood. Silly me.

I can’t really see David A in the bottom2/3, but he really has to be there as well. Let’s see whether Idol has the guts to do so or not. Tee hee.

Brooke might be safe another week, she’s stranded in the middle. D’Cook is duh, safe. So far he’s the only one guaranteed to get a spot in the top 4.

Syesha really can’t go home. No she can’t. I hope she doesn’t. She got the pimp spot. Pimp spots are magical.

Jason got the death spot. Muahahahaha.

My bottom 3/2 predictions: Jason, Brooke (David A/Syesha)

My elimination prediction: Jason/Brooke

Save Brooke and Syesha!

4 words: PLEASE SEND JASON HOME.

Idol - Jason = better top 4.

ANTM Cycle 10 Episode 10 - VIVA ITALIA! [watch]

April 25, 2008

CoverGirl questa settimana, ancora una volta, ha gettato un non frizzante ragazza fuori dalla finestra. Facile, ventilata, bello …? Non!

Get it? No? Oh well.

The videos: ( thanks to dodash8 )

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Recap:

  • The girls said hello to Rome, Italy!
  • They went to the coliseum.
  • Anya fell head first on her ‘first step’ in Rome! Poor gal.
  • The top 6 headed to their amazing new loft.
  • Fatima fell ill.
  • Momma Anya was tired of the other girls talking behind Fatima’s back, and sent food to Fatima’s bed.
  • They were given a tour around Italy.
  • The challenge: Impressing designer Gai Mattiolo in his dresses.
  • Challenge winner: Anya.
  • Her prize: a couture gown.
  • This week: A CoverGirl commercial for the CG Queen Collection In Italian.
  • Piersandro Buzzanea was the director, along with Jay Manuel and Brent Poer from CG.
  • Anya’s Italian was weird, but she was bubbly and approachable.
  • Katarzyna excelled her commercial with her fluent Italian, but she was flat.
  • Dominique had the weirdest Italian, but she was comical and energetic.
  • Lauren flunked with her non-CG attitude, she gave up.
  • Fatima was named best of the day.
  • Whitney had problems with her over the top performance.
  • The judging room was gorgeous.
  • Tyra changed her hairstyle, finally.
  • Fatima got rave reviews.
  • Whitney was criticized for being fake.
  • Anya fell flat, but it was lovable.
  • Dominique’s was hilarious, it cracked the whole panel up.
  • Lauren was scolded for giving up.
  • Katarzyna wanted to show more personality by correcting Tyra on her name’s pronunciation.
  • She aced her commercial.
  • Tyra didn’t like the end, she thought it was sexy boring. Paulina and Buzzanea disagreed, saying she was awesome.

ROLL CALL!

  1. Fatima
  2. Katarzyna
  3. Anya
  4. Dominique

Bottom 2: Whitney and Lauren.

Whitney was there for her fakeness, which has irritated the panel for many times. Lauren was there for not being CG material and not trying hard enough, cause a top model also needs to speak regardless having a great portfolio.

Eliminated: Lauren was cut from the scene.

++++

Reviews:

The only people I see in the final 3 now is Anya and Fatima. Anya is locked in the finals for sure. No doubt. Fatima is picking herself up and has impressed the judges.

I LOVE Katarzyna for smacking Tyra in the face. Well, not really smacking. Great job at correcting Tyra! Poor Tyra. Not! Tyra got so fed up of her she even ordered (!) the other girls to mimic Kata’s commercial. Urgh. I’m disgusted. Take that, Tyra! Kata needs a first call out!

It’s definitely Lauren’s time to go as well, she can’t survive that long. Even if she makes it to the top 3, she’ll get cut as well for not being a CoverGirl. And even if she makes it to the finale, she can’t walk the runway with that horrible walk. Sorry, Lauren.

Whitney, close your mouth! She’s so fake in the commercial. And anyone notice that Whitney has the most confessionals? It’s about 20+ per episode every week. I’m glad Kata got some too.

Anya was so sweet to help Fatima. She definitely gained a huge amount of fans these weeks.

Kata and Anya final 2 please. Katanya rocks!

++++

CoverGirl of the Week:

Anya! Finally. The Anya Koperations are sure rejoicing right now. Although I felt Kata deserved to get it, since she had a much better commercial.

++++

Next Episode:

Tyra is the photographer, where the girls pose in over-the-top hair and makeup. And the girls meet some gladiators!

Spoilers: None for now.

American Idol 7 - Top 6 - Studio Recordings [download]

April 24, 2008

Andrew Lloyd Webber lead the Idols into Broadway music… Or rather to their death.

- American Idol 7 - Top 6 Studio Recordings -

Andrew Lloyd Webber Week

Track List:

  1. Syesha Mercado - “One Rock ‘n’ Roll Too Many”
  2. Jason Castro - “Memory”
  3. Brooke White - “You Must Love Me”
  4. David Archuleta - “Think Of Me”
  5. Carly Smithson - “Jesus Christ Superstar”
  6. David Cook - “The Music Of The Night”

Best tracks of the bunch, the bottom 2’s. Carly’s is just simply amazing as she was on stage. So isĀ  Syesha’s.

David Cook’s track is nice as well, but for those who are not into Broadway, it sounds like a lullaby. David Archuleta’s is good too, but forgettable.

Brooke and Jason just have okay tracks. Especially Jason’s, but it does sound better than his take live.

Overall Carly’s and Syesha’s are the only tracks worth listening to.
