Officially Not Posting

March 9, 2010

Hey guys!!

I guess this is the post you guys were… not waiting for? Haha.

Sorry for the slow (extremely!) notice, but I won’t be updating this blog anymore. I know some of you are anxious for me and my Idol ramblings to be back on full swing since a new season has rolled around, but unfortunately I won’t be able to post entries about my thoughts and reviews anymore. It has and is going to be a very busy few years ahead for me and I have lots in life to take care of. Furthermore I just moved, so I don’t have a TV or anything to watch Idol or any other shows for that matter, so I won’t be up-do-date as you guys are. But I’m definitely watching Idol though, just that I’ll be a day or two later cause I’m watching them online.

So, I want to send my apologies to everyone for not being able to vent my ramblings here anymore!! It’s been one heck of a few years with a lot of you guys, and thanks for sharing this blogging experience with me! I’ll leave this blog up for anyone that still wants to go back through the pages or for the download links and stuff.

I’ll still be around though, just that I won’t be blogging anymore!

I really do want to keep in touch with you guys, so if you could please leave me your Twitter or any social networking site or even your email so we could keep contact and share views! Besides, you could always bug me easier if you have any questions or any problems about downloads and stuff!

So cheers guys!

Much love and thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart,

– Raph.

Kris Allen’s New Single – “Live Like We’re Dying” World Premiere! [FULL download]

September 21, 2009

Get this. Kris Allen just released his first single, “Live Like We’re Dying” on Z100 New York! (Listen: HERE) The song just ended, the radio jockeys are interviewing Kris now. I’m going to be incomprehensible starting now because I’m so excited!

My thoughts on the song: It was AMAZING. It’s the sort of stuff you want to listen to when you’re down, feeling low or alone. The track is very fun, very uplifting and it just raises your spirit. You can’t help but dance along with it (at least I did). It spreads a good message: live everyday like you’re dying, capture every moment cause it’s precious, and to love everyone around you. Also, I like that the song has a summer jam to it (even though summer is almost over) and the chorus is super upbeat. It’s sort of like a rap, but you’re actually singing. The whole vibe of the song is very Jason Mraz-ish, with lots of guitar  playing in the background. If you’re into Jason Mraz’s smooth soulful tunes (read: “The Remedy“, you’d have no problem with this one.  Overall: great stuff. A+

ETA: The interview just ended! The DJs said that they had recorded the interview and will be posting it up soon, so check out the website, HERE.

ETA2: Going to be posting the download link soon!

ETA3: Download link posted below! Note: This is not in HQ. This is a ripped version from the radio station interview.

Live Like We're Dying

Download: HERE

ETA4: Lyrics to the song!

Sometimes we fall down, Can’t get back up
We’re hidin’ behind skin that’s too tough
How come we dont say I love you enough
Til its too late…. its not too late

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won’t come
But we could make a feast from these crumbs
And we’re all starin’ down the barrel of a gun
So if your life flashed before you what would you wish you would have done

Gotta start

Looking at the hands of the time we been given
If this is all we got then we gotta start thinkin’
If every second counts on the clock thats tickin’
Gotta live like we’re dyin’
We only got 864 hundred seconds in a day
To turn it all around or to throw it all away
Gotta tell em that we love em while we got the chance to say
Gotta
Live like we’re dyin’

And if your plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbye
Should be so careful who we let fall out of our lives
Or when we long for absolution there’ll be no one on the line

You never know a good thing til its gone
You never see a crash til its head on
Wny do we think we’re right when we’re dead wrong
You never know a good thing til its gone

Enjoy! Please leave comments! What are your thoughts on the song?

What’cha Watchin’?

September 20, 2009

So! It’s fall! And new shows are rolling around ready for the world to see. What are you watching as the leaves start falling?

I’ve got a few shows that I’m definitely keeping track of. First, Big Brother 11, which just ended its season. I’m a BB virgin, never watched the show before, and decided to give it a shot! It was a weird experience watching BB, it’s different than other reality shows. Lots of drama, lots of fights, a happy ending, just what we needed! My favourite houseguests were Michele, Russell, Jordan and Laura.

ANTM13 is on the third episode now. This cycle, Tyra wants a petite model to win. Long shot? But to make up for their height, the girls this cycle is are incredibly promising. A whole better crop than the last few cycles! And the photoshoots looks amazing so far.  Erin is my choice. Who’s yours?

And yet another reality show, Survivor: Samoa. I love Survivor. It never gets tiring, especially with all the backstabs and alliances and the creative challenges. This season started off a little messy, but I think it’ll progress better compared to the disaster that last season was.

And for the TV series… Gossip Girl landed with its third season. I cannot miss out on all the high school drama. Wait, scratch that. They’re heading to university now. Curious to see how Chuck/Blair goes and what happened to Serena’s father. Addictive much? Totally.

Glee is the little train that could that is buzzing up a whole lot of hype. Some might say “High School Musical”, but other say “YES PLEASE”. It’s a great show mixed with music numbers, randomness, social awkwardness and a huge dose of hilarity injection. Must watch. The tracks from the show are seriously fun and addictive too.

And the last series that I’m following… Vampire Diaries. Vampire are in these days. So its sort of an obligation to watch it? Hehe. Besides, its the highest rating show on CW so far. No one can get enough of vampires. The cast are promising, and the plot is not bad. You can probably say its a typical vampire-human romance ala-Twilight story, which is true, but its dark edge and mystical aura keeps me jumping everytime Damon appears in a mirror or attacks someone.

So that’s what I’m watching. What about you?

American Idol 8 – Top 2 – Finale! Results [review]

May 21, 2009

Bummer that I couldn’t watch the live showcast, so I had to settle with watching the encore, around ten hours later, so this came in late. Sorry guys!

Say hello to the newest American Idol, KRIS ALLEN!! Kris was crowned the winner in the Nokia Theater today. This year, a total of 624 million votes were cast! For the finale alone, near 100 million votes came in! All I can say is: WOW. That’s a few million more than what the Davids garnered in last year! Apparently AT & T announced that 38 million votes came in from Kris’ hometown state, Arkansas. Wow, those people must be voting hardcore. I wonder how sore their thumbs are.

kris

I am very very content with this year’s results. Kris Allen thoroughly deserves to win. He worked his way from the bottom of the pack to the top and emerged as the winner. The dark horse has taken the title. All hail Kris Allen! Adam Lambert should be proud of himself as well, landing in first runner up isn’t bad! Hopefully both of them will succeed in the future!

Now to the recap stuff!

SPOTTED IN THE CROWD! Supermodel Janice Dickinson! Doing lots of cam-whoring. Hehe! Season 7’s Michael Johns! Season 1’s Justin Guarini! David Cook sitting in front of Tatiana Del Toro! Season 4’s Carrie Underwood & Bo Bice! Season 2’s Rubben Studdard! Carly Smithson was out in San Diego shouting with Adam Lambert’s crowd, Mikalah Gordon was in Conway hanging out with Kris’ homies!

The show started with the Top 13 group number, “So What”. Despite it being the finale, it was still awful. Hehe. Really to nice to see them all again though,  they were literally bouncing around the stage, especially Allison.

Season 7’s own David Cook performed one of his best songs off his self titled album, “Permanent”, which was dedicated to his late brother. It was an AMAZING performance, actually the best of the whole two hours in my opinion. The piano was very eerie, and Cook sang beautifully. SUPPORT! GO AND BUY THE SONG! Fight cancer!! ♥

Golden Idol Awards! OUTSTANDING MALE went to Nick Mitchell aka Normund Gentle. I love Nick! His persona(s) is so hilarious. Well deserved.  “Chain me up!” XD BEST ATTITUDE went to Bikini Girl aka Katrina Darrell. Wow she actually wore her bikini again! Her body is slamming hot. Kara DioGuradi did a singing showdown and showed her own HOT BOD! Droolfest, guys! The Queen herself, Tatiana Del Toro won the award for OUTSTANDING FEMALE. OMG “Saving All My Love For You” x4!! I love Tatiana! She is an DAMN GOOD VOCALIST! XD

Lil Rounds did a duet with Queen Latifah. It was a  tad bit too noisy for my taste. If only she pulled off a performance like this on the show, she would’ve gone furthur. Divas looked great!

Anoop Desai and Alexis Grace sang “I’m Yours” along with Jason Mraz. The rest of the top 13 came in later. It was clumsy and kind of pointless to be honest. Jason Mraz looked great! Love the beard! Shave YOURS, Anoop.

Kris Allen duetted with country superstar Keith Urban! Keith was rocking his electric guitar while Kris strummed his acoustic one. I liked it, they sounded really good together. Kris looked starstruck. Hehe.

The Glamorous! G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S! The girls from the top 13 sang with Fergie. Later, the latter performed “Boom Boom Pow” with the Black Eyed Peas. It was a very pow-worthy performance! The choreography was amazing. Megan Joy Corkrey looked HAWT.

Allison Iraheta then performed “Time After Time” with Cyndi Lauper. Wasn’t too crazy over it.

The moment Danny Gokey opened his mouth to sing “Hello”, I felt a sudden urge to punch him in the face. Weird huh. David Cook totally owns that song. He’ll be getting a lot more hate from Cook fans. Thank goodness. Lionel Richie came out later to perform some of his hits. Paula was dancing her butt off.

Adam Lambert wore a ridiculous costume. Was it supposed to be an armor? Hmmm. He started his performance slow and soft, but then rocked along with the band KISS. Very very nice, lots of theatrical stuff with the lights and the fireworks and flames. It totally looked like a real concert. This is what Adam should be doing Post-Idol.

Guitar legend Carlos Santana jammed on his guitar. Good stuff. Matt Giraud then sang a few lines gorgeously. I wonder how many hats Matt changed for the finale. Matt in a hat! The Idols then came out to sing “Smooth”. Love love love that song. Kind of wished that Matt had Santana all to himself though.

ZOMG David Cook presented new Ford Hybrids to Adam and Kris. Gimme a car Cook! Or at least take me for a ride!

Comedian Steve Martin and his banjo band were playing, while Megan Joy Corkrey and Michael Sarver sang. It was very nice. I totally had no idea  that Steve Martin was into music. Kudos! STEVE FTW!

Rod Steward then sang after the top 13 guys. Snoozefest much?

Queen, Kris & Adam and the Top 13 brought down the house with “We Are The Champions”. Great way to close the show!

And the results are in! KRIS ALLEN TRIUMPHED!! Totally unexpected right? NOT! Kris was totally speechless and was gibbering gibberish. He was so shocked that he could barely move properly. Poor guy.

Kris sang his last song on Idol, the coronation song, “No Boundaries”.

kris

And he finally broke into tears when his wife, Katy, rushed over to hug him. One word: Awwwwwwwww! ♥

Best of luck to all the Idols in their future careers. What a heck of a season this season has been.

It was nice for you guys to stay around the site and continue supporting! Hopefully you still will continue to support the site! Without you guys, I wouldn’t be able to function. Love you guys! *sniff*

What do you think of the finale? Happy with the results? Wanna rant? Leave comments!

American Idol 8 – Top 2 – Studio Recordings [download]

May 21, 2009

I’m running a bit late, so I posted the studio recordings first! This week we have a track from each contestant, which is the second song they performed in the finale, chosen by Idol creater Simon Fuller. I have two album art choices, so pick your favourite! Mediafire is down, so we’ll have to settle with Evilshare! ETA: Winner’s singles added! “No Boundaries” is the coronation song for this year’s winner, co-written by Kara DioGuardi.

top 02

– American Idol 8 – Top 2 Studio Recordings –
Simon Fuller’s Choice  [Album Art #2]
[Adam’s Official Single Cover][Kris’ Official Single Cover]

Track List:

  1. Adam Lambert – “A Change Is Gonna Come
  2. Kris Allen – “What’s Going On
  3. Adam Lambert – “No Boundaries”
  4. Kris Allen – “No Boundaries”

I hate myself for saying this, but the coronation song is really growing on me. I love Adam’s take on the song, he actually sounds really good here. It’s great that the essential Adam essence is not missing in the song. However, Kris totally owns the song. His version of the single is incredibly radio friendly, I can actually see it doing well on the charts. It’s a hit in the making.

Congratulations to Kris Allen! He really deserved it. A tribute to the amazing Adam Lambert and the winner himself, Kris Allen.

Enjoy! Please leave comments!

American Idol 8 – Top 2 – Finale! [review]

May 20, 2009

OH MY EFFING GOSH. DialIdol.com has placed Kris Allen is first place, he is in the lead my a mere 1.1%!!! Now I know, we can’t get too excited yet, since DI has been a bit incorrect in the past, but anyways! I really really think Kris can take the title home this year. This is going to be a very very close race!!

Even Simon Cowell was dressed for the occasion. BUTTON YOUR SHIRT, SIMON! No one likes to see your manboobs and chest hair. It should be censored. Spotted in the crowd! Season 7’s Carly Smithson looking HAWT! Top 36 contender Casey Carlson was in the crowd too. So was Katie Holmes! Holla! Best of all, THE TOP 13!!! I love seeing familiar faces again. Matty G looked so adorable. Awww, I miss all of them! What was with all the microphones? Is the Nokia Theater’s sound system that bad? Kara DioGuardi looked horrible tonight. She was so glum and her fake tan was so orange! *shudders*

Now to the serious stuff…

ROUND 1: REPRISE – CONTESTANT’S CHOICE

Adam Lambert – Of course he did “Mad World”. Duuh. It was his best performance to date. Adam came down the stairs in a coat! WTF? Was it raining in there? Hehe! There were dry ice smoke all around, it was very mysterious and intriguing. Props to Adam for planning the stage setup! However, it was rather familiar, we’ve seen it before. His voice wasn’t as good as we heard it the first time, the dramatic effects helped him a little. Simon wasn’t a fan. Randy dubbed it “Twilight”! That was exactly what I said a few weeks ago. It was a very solid performance.

Kris Allen – Oh poor Kris. His legs looked like they could barely touch the floor as he banged on the piano. Kris chose to sang “Ain’t No Sunshine” (good choice!) Kris executed the song beautifully. It was very powerful and I felt emotionally connected to him, just as Kara stated. He even changed the song arrangements here and there, so that it was different from what we’ve seen before. His performance sent shivers down my spine.

Who won Round 1? KRIS ALLEN.

ROUND 2: SIMON FULLER’S CHOICE

Bah, Clive Davis chose songs better. I don’t think either of the contestants did as good as they did in the first song, but since it wasn’t their choice of song, I don’t blame them.

Adam Lambert – Adam did “A Change Is Gonna Come”. The judges called it  his best performance of the season, I don’t think so. It was a good performance, but it wasn’t spectacular. Adam had really good control over his voice, it wasn’t all over the place. He started off good and tender, but when it got to the high notes, he lost me. However, if this were to be a genuine vocal competition, Adam would win. Unfortunately, it’s not.

Kris Allen – WTF Simon Fuller? Choosing such a light song for the finale is NOT a good idea. Kris was sitting on the stage with his guitar and some band members. Beautiful arrangement of the song, very Jason Mraz-ish. It would’ve looked good if it was a real concert, but it’s a live show for goodness sake. I loved the performance, but it just wasn’t suitable with the night’s theme. Not Kris’ fault.

Who won Round 2? Adam Lambert, by a small margin.

ROUND 3: THE CORONATION SONG

I really hate the coronation song performances. Year after year, they’re so painful to digest. This year was no different. The winning single is entitled “No Boundaries”. Name sounds good, song’s good too, right? WRONG. Last year it was magic rainbows. This year, it was about shitteous mountains and hurricanes. LOL at Simon calling out Kara’s poor penmanship. What’s with the symbolic stuff? Cheesy much. Ahhh shoot yourself in the head Kara. But I know that eventually, the song will grow on me. Bummer.

Adam Lambert – Adam sang the song better than Kris, in my opinion. His voice was high enough to hit the right notes, but there were a lot of pitch problems. Kinda uncomfortable to watch. Adam Lambert + Pop song about mountains = Do not go together. Bad combo. I just cannot picture him doing a song like this, it’s just not Adam. However, if Adam wins, it’ll have to do. I love his eye contact with the camera, very intense.

Kris Allen –  The song definitely suited Kris better, since he’s more pop than Adam is. But his performance was so painful, it was on the verge of desperation. Kris was really struggling to keep up with the song. His vocals were really weak and the whole mic-grabbing was kinda clumsy. Even so, his version of the song was more believable, and I would prefer this to be playing on the radio.

Who lost Round 3? Kara DioGuardi. Fail. Both Kris and Adam are tied.

++++

First of all, I’m surprised that none of the top 2 pulled a Cook and chose to sing a new song, just like Cook did with “The World I Know” last year. Maybe they were forced to do an encore, but I felt that a new song as a last chance to show the audience who they are as an artist would be splendid. Secondly, no drama? No one cried? Too bad. When Cook broke into tears at the end of his performance last year, that was the formula to his success. America was won over by his emotions, it tugged at their heartstrings, and they voted, and he won.

I was slightly disappointed at tonight’s show, it wasn’t as great as last year’s. Last year, both Davids gave awesome performances. This year wasn’t as amazing, but it surely was tight.

The finale is too close to call. I have absolutely no idea who is going to win the whole thing, but I’m fairly certain that both of the contestants deserved to be where they are right now. Kudos to them!

I’m crossing my fingers and toes and hoping that Kris wins. An upset would be EPIC. KRIS ALLEN FOR THE WIN. KRIS ALLEN FOR AMERICAN IDOL 2009.

What do you think? WHO WILL WIN? Leave comments!

Flashback: Angel vs Demon // Tongue vs Side-Mouth // Frontrunner vs Underdog

May 19, 2009

Whatever you want to name them, they’re the final 2, and they both deserve to be there. Adam Lambert, 27 (can you believe that??) and Kris Allen, 23, are the finalists for Season 8 of American Idol. In this -MDOC- special annual post, we’ll take you back to get a glimpse of their journey on American Idol.

00

Firstly, the auditions. Adam Lambert auditioned in San Francisco. He walked into the room already looking like a star (with less mascara). Adam sang Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, but it was too theatrical. The judges weren’t too keen on Adam, but he was already garnering a strong following along the way. We first saw (or rather, a little peep) Kris Allen in Louisville, where he sang “A Song For You”. We soon forgot Kris after 5 seconds. Of course, both made it through to Hollywood.

Adam: 1 || Kris: 0

Hollywood Round was next! Kris Allen appeared alongside best buddy Matt Giraud in the group rounds, where they formed a group with two others and dubbed themselves as “White Chocolate”. Their performance of “I Want You Back” was easily the best performance of the day. Adam Lambert joined forces with fellow top 36 contenders Matt Breitzke and Jesse Langseth, and  they performed “Some Kind of Wonderful”. It was good, but wasn’t really that memorable. The contestants then had to perform individually on Day 4. Adam Lambert didn’t really pull off his rendition of Cher’s “Believe”. At least he was shown, Kris Allen was no where to be seen. Both of them made it to the top 36. Even though he wasn’t really shown much, Kris gets a point for excelling in White Chocolate.

Adam: 1 || Kris: 1

Now to the top 36! Both finalists originated from Group 2 (along with 4 out of 5 of the top 5, indicating that Group 2 was certainly the best), which was so packed to the brim with talented contestants that we couldn’t really choose who to vote for. Kris Allen appeared, singing “Man In The Mirror”. We were all wondering, who was this guy? Yes we know he’s cute, but will looks get him so far? How did this cannon fodder end up in the top 36? He’ll be gone, that’s for sure. But lo and behold! Kris beat out favourites Megan Corkrey and Matt Giraud to round up the three finalists for Group 2. Hmm, maybe he got lucky with his good looks,  but he’ll be gone soon. Adam Lambert, of course, received the (first of many) pimp spot, and he did an unforgettable performance of “Satisfaction”. Unforgettable, because no one would forget all that screaming and fierce stomping around the stage. A new, fresh talent! Adam’s definitely getting votes. As expected, he got into the top 13 without any challenge at all. Adam wins this round. (A trivia! All four contestants who got the pimp spot during the top 36 made it through to the top 13, and all four of them ended in the top 7.)

01

Adam: 2 || Kris: 1

Time for the top 13! It was Michael Jackson Week. Kris Allen performed “Remember The Time”, while jamming it out on his guitar. His guitar didn’t really suited the song, but it definitely helped him to form an image of who Kris Allen was. Adam Lambert did “Black and White” and was given the title of best performance of the night. It was expected, since the whole theme was very theatrical anyways. Adam wins.

02

Adam: 3 || Kris: 1

Top 11! Country Week. Kris Allen was really smooth with his heartwarming performance of “To Make You Feel My Love”. Judges all loved it, Simon even hinted that Kris could win this (how right you are, Simon). And to the most infamous performance of the season, Adam Lambert‘s “Ring of Fire”.  He was  touching himself all over. Ummm, what? No one knew what to do, what to say, what to comment. Flabbergasted, hypnotized, starstruck, cat got our tongues? In the end, Simon made it clear for us: either you love it, or hate it. While Adam fans may love (or pretend to) it, the rest of us despised it.

03

Adam: 3 || Kris: 2

The Idols tackled Motown in the top 10. Kris Allen gave a forgettable rendition of “How Sweet It Is”, accompanied by his friend, the guitar. As usual, his guitar didn’t really help much. It was a clumsy performance. Judges didn’t like it. Adam Lambert was out to rule the world. This was the week where all the spotlights were on Adam, as he crooned “The Tracks of My Tears” in a classical suit and his hair slicked back. Girls were screaming, fans were voting. Adam was now the frontrunner of the competition, off to face Danny Gokey in the finals.

04

Adam: 4 || Kris: 2

Oooh, Adam is leading. Top 9 was Top Downloads Week. Adam Lambert got his hair combed back once more, and the high notes were back. Haven’t we seen and heard those before? Adam performed “Play That Funky Music”. Not a fan of it, it was a very typical performance, even for Adam.  Indulgent! Kris Allen finally got the pimped spot and ended the show beautifully with “Ain’t No Sunshine”, one of his best performance of the whole season. It was wonderfully done, with Kris behind the piano, and after it ended we were groaning wanting more. Artistry! (Trivia! “Artistry” and “Indulgent” were probably the most uttered word by Kara and Simon this season, and  are the most hated words used, chosen by fans.)

05

Adam: 4 || Kris: 3

The top 8 was next with the songs from the year they were born. Kris Allen tried to emulate Matt Giraud by singing in the mosh pit, but got the same bad reviews as well. Kris performed “All She Wants to Do Is Dance”, and was forgotten by the end of the night. His pulled out his guitar, and once again, it wasn’t useful at all, as he got drone out by all the music. Adam Lambert gave the best performance of the night, and probably the most talked about one of the whole season. He did “Mad World” superbly, with the dim lights and  minimal music in the background. It was all about his power vocals, and he pulled it off amazingly. It was very haunting and eerie. Simon announced that Adam was going to win. And at this point of the game, we all believed that as well.

06

Adam: 5 || Kris: 3

Top 7 Week, Songs from the Movies, was basically a trainwreck. Almost everyone gave sub-par performances, none outshining the other, it was all a snoozefest. Adam Lambert screamed another one, this time it was “Born To Be Wild”. It was getting kind of old. Next! Kris Allen gave one of his top performaces of the season, “Falling Slowly”. His vocals were very controlled, he did everything splendidly. Initially, I didn’t connect with his performance at all, but I can now say that it was one of his best.

07

Adam: 5 || Kris: 4

Disco Week was slotted in at the last minute for the theme for the top 7, since Matt Giraud was (deservingly) saved. Of course, being disco week, everyone was expecting Adam Lambert to have the upper hand and pull off another performance full of screaming and cheesy dance moves. But he surprised us once again, this time doing a slow march of “If I Can’t Have You”, portraying perfect emotion, which reduced Paula to tears. We all now know that this guy can do practically anything. Kris Allen caused heads to turn by shopping in the women’s department and giving an acoustic version of “She Works Hard For Money”. It was fresh, current and great. Of course, it had absolutely nothing to do with the theme. But do we or the judges care? No. Kara was all about her artistry crap as usual, but this we can agree on: Kris was starting to define himself as an acoustic/guitar/pop/soul artist. And we really liked that.

08

Adam: 5 || Kris: 5

The top 5 delivered the best week of the season with Jazz Week. Kris Allen did a slow, mid-tempo performance of “The Way You Look Tonight”, and it was really really good. His vocals were spot on, and the way he switched keys while singing was beautiful. Plus his studio recording is a track that you can replay over and over again without getting tired of it. Even though it’s the top 5, we still haven’t crossed Kris Allen off yet as one of the contestants who could easily be sent home. But again, he prevailed. Adam Lambert strutted down the huge staircase in the middle of the stage in his immaculate white suit, singing “Feeling Good”. While his voice was impeccable, it wasn’t really that great. Same ol’. Seen there, heard that. Adam caused an “uproar” when he landed in the bottom 3. Oops, Adam is losing steam! He peaked too soon, and was going downhill. Both get points for doing great. (Trivia! Kris and Adam have both landed in the bottom 3  only once, and this was the week. Hmmm, what a coincidence!)

09

Adam: 6 || Kris: 6

Rock Week was the theme for the top 4, perfectly suited for Adam Lambert. He was the first contestant in Idol history to perform a Led Zeppelin song. Adam performed “Whole Lotta Love” exactly as any other rock star would have. Props all around. He was really comfortable on the stage. Later, he received the pimped spot once again, duetting with Allison Iraheta, who was eliminated on the same week. The duo pulled off an amazing performance of “Slow Ride”, and was easily the best performance of the night. It was so full of energy you could feed off it while watching. Kris Allen didn’t gave up, albeit his pissed off face, he managed to survive another week by performing “Come Together”, and later, “Renegade” with Danny Gokey. Both performances weren’t that good, they were only average. Rock is not doing good for Allen. No no.

10

Adam: 7 || Kris: 6

The top 3’s race to the finale was closer than ever. While everyone was still thinking that Kris Allen was the weakest link, Danny Gokey was (rightfully) sent home instead. Kris performed two songs, the first was “Apologize”, which was incredibly average, nothing new. However, his second performance, an acoustic cover of “Heartless”, totally won us over. It was hands down one of the best performance of the season. It was exactly the sort of music you would want to hear blasting out of your car radio while driving on the road. As Simon put it, it redeemed him, and gave him a spot in the final 2. Adam Lambert on the other hand was starting to wane and gave only decent, not great, performances of “One” and “Cryin'”. (Trivia! Adam has had the pimped spot for a total of FIVE times this season, probably higher than any other contestants ever had on the show. And a majority of his performances were positioned at the second half of the show, making Adam one of the most (if not the most) pimped contestant ever in Idol history.)

11

Adam: 7 || Kris: 7

They’re neck in neck! So who will win? Let’s give an extra point so that a winner will be chosen! Adam Lambert came into the show with loads of coverage, and was pimped throughout the show, gave outstanding performances week after week, hit insane and extremely high notes, getting rave reviews from the judges and the media, dubbed as a frontrunner, being a revolution and inspiration for being a gay contestant, garnering huge fans since the beginning,  has good looks, and even appearing on a magazine cover. Kris Allen on the other hand, came into the show with almost ZERO coverage and pimping, was dubbed as a cannon folder, constantly being called the underdog, constantly being underrated, picked up a massive following along the way, has good looks, can play instruments, is current, relevant, was only in the bottom 3 once and still managed to land in the finals.

From my point of view, Kris definitely worked really hard to get to the end. Kris is gaining momentum and picking up steam now, his fire isn’t about to go out anytime soon. I feel that Adam has peaked too soon and is now starting to be overshadowed. Maybe people are getting tired of Adam. But one thing is for sure, Kris has a shot at winning this. Note that last week, the top 2 was separated by a mere ONE MILLION VOTES. That is not a huge margin! If it was Adam who was leading Kris by a million votes, that means that Kris is sneaking up on Adam and can easily win it all. If it was Kris who was leading the pack, that means that Kris is already on his way to the win. Besides, Kris will be getting most of the votes from Danny’s fans, since the latter was eliminated last week. And Danny’s fanbase is HUGE, so that will  help boost the numbers.

Adam: 7 || Kris: 8

++++

Therefore, unless Adam produces another heart-stopping performance tomorrow, I am fairly confident that Kris has this in the bag. This is probably the closest finale ever. We say that every year, don’t we? Hehe.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m ready for the underdog to sweep the crown under the frontrunner and take it all.

VOTE FOR KRIS ALLEN. KRIS ALLEN FOR THE WIN!

I hereby announce Kris Allen as the winner of American Idol 2009.

Hey, what do you know? “Falling Slowly” is currently playing on my iTunes. 😉

What do you think? Who will win it all? Please leave comments!

May 14, 2009

Congratulations to Kris Allen and Adam Lambert for making it to the top 2! They both really deserved it. The contestants got to perform two songs this week: one chosen by the judges and another picked by themselves. Idol is being good this year by giving us BOTH the studio recordings, usually it’s only one per week per contestant. Sweet.

Judges & Contestants’ Picks Week

Track List:

  1. Danny Gokey – “Dance Little Sister”
  2. Kris Allen – “Apologize”
  3. Adam Lambert – “One”
  4. Danny Gokey – “You Are So Beautiful”
  5. Kris Allen – “Heartless”
  6. Adam Lambert – “Cryin'”

Kris’ acoustic version of “Heartless” is easily the best track of the bunch. It’s so nice to the ears that you can hit replay without getting tired of it. “Apologize” isn’t bad either, it’s tons better than his live performance. Adam has decent tracks too, “One” is really smooth and inspirational. Danny’s voice is incredibly hoarse on “You Are So Beautiful”, it’s painful to hear some of the notes, but overall it’s a good track.

A tribute to Danny Okey Gokey.
