I’m running a bit late, so I posted the studio recordings first! This week we have a track from each contestant, which is the second song they performed in the finale, chosen by Idol creater Simon Fuller. I have two album art choices, so pick your favourite! Mediafire is down, so we’ll have to settle with Evilshare! ETA: Winner’s singles added! “No Boundaries” is the coronation song for this year’s winner, co-written by Kara DioGuardi.

I hate myself for saying this, but the coronation song is really growing on me. I love Adam’s take on the song, he actually sounds really good here. It’s great that the essential Adam essence is not missing in the song. However, Kris totally owns the song. His version of the single is incredibly radio friendly, I can actually see it doing well on the charts. It’s a hit in the making.

Congratulations to Kris Allen! He really deserved it. A tribute to the amazing Adam Lambert and the winner himself, Kris Allen.

American Idol 8 – Top 3 – Studio Recordings [download]

Congratulations to Kris Allen and Adam Lambert for making it to the top 2! They both really deserved it. The contestants got to perform two songs this week: one chosen by the judges and another picked by themselves. Idol is being good this year by giving us BOTH the studio recordings, usually it’s only one per week per contestant. Sweet.

Kris’ acoustic version of “Heartless” is easily the best track of the bunch. It’s so nice to the ears that you can hit replay without getting tired of it. “Apologize” isn’t bad either, it’s tons better than his live performance. Adam has decent tracks too, “One” is really smooth and inspirational. Danny’s voice is incredibly hoarse on “You Are So Beautiful”, it’s painful to hear some of the notes, but overall it’s a good track.

Adrenaline pumping Rock n Roll week produced some great performance and some average ones, but did the contestants pull it off in the studio versions?  I’m really psyched that the duets are also recorded along with the usual singles. I have two album art this week just to give a little variety. Pick your fav and you’re good to go!

Singles: Kris sounds a whole lot better in the studio, I really like his track this week. Adam and Allison have decent tracks too, but their live performances are much better. I hate to admit it, but I rather enjoy Danny’s too. The scream isn’t that bad on here.
Duets: For me, Danny & Kris’ duet in the studio pwned Adam & Allison’s. Danny & Kris sound amazing, especially when their voices blend together. Adam & Allison’s lack that punch you get from their live performances.

Jazz week proved to be a great one. Everyone stepped up their game and delivered amazing performances. I decided to change from the usual group picture for this week to make it a little special. And besides, the top 5 group picture is horrible. Hehe.

I’ve got to give props to all the contestants; the tracks this week are AMAZING. All of them are a must spin. They’re all special in their own way. I have nothing bad to say about this week, it has got to be one of the best and most successful week that Idol has ever had. Although all of the tracks are stellar, my favourites this week are Matt and Adam’s.

I apologize for being slightly late for the studio recordings this week. I’m currently using my laptop to do my usual blogging, it isn’t as quick as through the PC, since there are some software which are unavailable, plus its dead slow. Hope you guys understand! This week, the contestants battle it out with the fearful disco theme. MOAR happy Matt and co. for the album cover!

The bad: I’m not a huge fan of Lil’s track, the song is too big for her. I still think that Allison’s rock vibe doesn’t go well with the disco theme, and her track this week proves just that. Anoop’s song goes on forever and ever.
The good: Adam’s track is very smooth. However, I do prefer his live version more. Danny does these up-tempo songs better in my opinion. His vocals here are superb. The best tracks this week are Kris and Matt’s. Kris’ creative ideas paid off this week. His track is really great simply for the fact that it is original and fresh. Matt’s just pure awesome. His voice, riffs and falsetto works perfectly for his song.

My personal views: I really hate “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”; it’s been covered so many times.  However, Allison managed to make it fresh, so kudos on that. Anoop’s track sounds really good, it’s smooth and nice. Matt’s live performance did not do him justice at all, his studio version is superb.  I love Kris’, it’s one of the best this week. Lil always manages to sound better in the studio, if she can project the same vibe onstage, she’ll be a frontrunner by now. Not a fan of Danny and Adam’s tracks. Danny’s vocals sound very weak, and Adam, same ol’.

Anoop and Scott’s come off as boring. Allison and Adam’s are interesting and nice to the ears. Especially Adam’s, it’s so haunting. Matt just blows my socks ears off everytime. He never fails to deliver.

Unlike other weeks, I have positive stuff to say about everyone’s tracks. Anoop, Allison and Danny’s are, in Paula’s words, relevant. Adam is in his own universe. Megan and Scott’s are soothing. Lil sound so much better in the studio. However, the standouts are Matt’s and Kris’. When these two hit the studio, magic happens. Their studio versions are always top notch and quite commercial, the kind you can expect spinning on your radio. Overall, these are great tracks to listen to.

While most are listenable, the standout track is Matt Giraud’s. His simply sound the best. Danny Gokey and Scott MacIntyre have equally horrible song choices. I expected more from Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert’s tracks, but they sounded better live with their own versions. I think its super cool that the contestants get to record their voices over the original tunes in the background.

I might as well compile my weekly reviews in this post. Firstly, WTF? First Alexis Grace, next Matt Giraud? Matt did not deserve to be in the bottom two at all. He was awesome this week, one of the best of the night. Him being there just sends angry impulses down my spine. I seriously hope that doesn’t happen again. Michael Sarver was eliminated, thankfully. No save from the judges too. We expected that. But Matt, THAT was shocking. And uncalled for.

And another thing, Megan Joy Corkrey is now officially known as Megan Joy only. *headdesks* Time to change your tags, guys.
