American Idol 8 – Top 5 – Studio Recordings [download]

April 30, 2009

Jazz week proved to be a great one. Everyone stepped up their game and delivered amazing performances. I decided to change from the usual group picture for this week to make it a little special. And besides, the top 5 group picture is horrible. Hehe.

Rat Pack Standards – Jazz Week

Track List:

  1. Kris Allen – “The Way You Look Tonight”
  2. Allison Iraheta – “Someone to Watch Over Me”
  3. Matt Giraud – “My Funny Valentine”
  4. Danny Gokey – “Come Rain or Come Shine”
  5. Adam Lambert – “Feeling Good”

I’ve got to give props to all the contestants; the tracks this week are AMAZING. All of them are a must spin. They’re all special in their own way. I have nothing bad to say about this week, it has got to be one of the best and most successful week that Idol has ever had. Although all of the tracks are stellar, my favourites this week are Matt and Adam’s.

A tribute to the terrific, unbelievable, unique, soulful, talented, Matt Giraud. ♥

American Idol – Top 5 – Results [review]

April 30, 2009

Matt Giraud was eliminated tonight.

matt giraud

Ummm, how do I start this? I’m speechless right now. I’m just so effing proud of Matty G. Matt has been the one to beat since the beginning, giving stellar performances from Hollywood week till the current top 5. Matt’s journey was a roller coaster, getting rave reviews on this week to not so good ones on the next. And being saved by the judges not once, but twice, certainly proved that Matt is worth keeping on the show. Reaching the top 5  in  a heap on talented people is a great feat. Matt can leave the show with his head held high, he has certainly done his best and we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next. This isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning.

Freakin proud of Matty G.

Matt Giraud ♥♥♥
KEEP ROCKING. LET’S GET IT ON!

What do you think of the results? Adam in the bottom two? Kara almost spilling the beans on some conspiracy? Please leave comments!

American Idol 8 – Top 5 [review]

April 29, 2009

I love this week. Jazz week just redeemed every one. Disco week was a nightmare, this week was a miracle. Everyone outsang their previous performances. It was just a brilliant night. Anyone else feeling jazzy? I am! So get that dusty old jazz CD and start spinning it right now!

Kris Allen – Wait, is it ‘bring your kids to work’ day? Kris wore a suit that looked exactly the same like Ryan’s. Hehe! When they stood together they looked just like father and son. Creepy I know. Anyway, Kris did well tonight. I really enjoyed it when he switched his keys and notes, it’s just beautiful.

Allison Iraheta - Allison looked stunning in her dress. Best look we’ve ever seen from her, no? She sang great too. I initially thought that her rock voice wouldn’t suit this week’s theme, but she proved me wrong. Her voice was tender and spot on.

Matt Giraud - I love the hat! He keeps wearing it every week. Matt owns the hat, people. I love that he was sitting on the stool and not behind the piano, it made the performance more intimate. “My Funny Valentine” is a freaking big song, and I’m proud to say that he did it amazingly. Suck it haters, Simon speaks the truth. His riffs and vocals were soooooo good. I cannot wait to hear the studio version. Matt totally paled the first two in comparison. That being said, I think that Matt sounds better in a recording studio, his live performances doesn’t sound as good.

Danny Gokey - EFFING AMAZING VOCALS. That’s all I have to say. His vocals are top notch. He reminded me so much of Elliott Yamin tonight, and Elliott was DA BOMB. However, Danny was so (in Simon’s words) self-indulgent in his performance. Seriously. He can’t get enough of himself. But attitude aside, his vocals were really really good.

Adam Lambert - Lambert gets triple pimping, people! See the injustice yet? So far, Adam has THREE pimp spots while the others only have one each. Idol is no doubt pimping him to win. I actually liked Adam’s performance surprisingly, there wasn’t that much screaming and yelling. Kara pretty much sums up what I think about Adam. Every time he performs, he injects some hypnotic serum or something and makes everyone flabbergasted and confused. Hehe. Kudos to Adam tonight, he owned the stairs too. Then again, I’ve always hated the stairs.

Kara speaks nonsense sometimes. I don’t get her and her “swagger”. She comes off as fake and over-enthusiastic. And she drools over all the guys and have multiple orgasms every week. She needs to go. Fourth judge isn’t really working, I miss the chemistry between the original three.

It’s safe to say that Adam is going to be in the finals. Right now, everyone is expecting Danny to be up there with him, but I still think it’s  everyone’s game at this point. A dark horse to upset Adam would be epic!

++++

Since there are only five left…
My Top 3: Matt & Adam & Danny.
My Bottom 2: Kris & Allison.
Who Should Go Home: NO ONE! They all deserve to stay. :_( Can they all win please?
Who Will Go Home: Matt.

It’s pretty much set in stone that Matt is going home tonight, and I’m very content with that. I’ve already accepted the fact that he doesn’t have that big of a fanbase and can be going home anytime soon. Matt can leave with his head up and a big smile on his face, his performance this week did him full justice. GO MATT.

Then again… Miracles happen. *winks*

American Idol 8 – Top 7 v2 – Studio Recordings [download]

April 23, 2009

I apologize for being slightly late for the studio recordings this week. I’m currently using my laptop to do my usual blogging, it isn’t as quick as through the PC, since there are some software which are unavailable, plus its dead slow. Hope you guys understand! This week, the contestants battle it out with the fearful disco theme. MOAR happy Matt and co. for the album cover!

top 7 v2

Disco Week

Track List:

  1. Lil Rounds – “I’m Every Woman”
  2. Kris Allen – “She Works Hard For The Money”
  3. Danny Gokey – “September”
  4. Allison Iraheta – “Hot Stuff”
  5. Adam Lambert – “If I Can’t Have You”
  6. Matt Giraud – “Stayin’ Alive”
  7. Anoop Desai – “Dim All the Lights”

The bad: I’m not a huge fan of Lil’s track, the song is too big for her. I still think that Allison’s rock vibe doesn’t go well with the disco theme, and her track this week proves just that. Anoop’s song goes on forever and ever.
The good: Adam’s track is very smooth. However, I do prefer his live version more. Danny does these up-tempo songs better in my opinion. His vocals here are superb. The best tracks this week are Kris and Matt’s. Kris’ creative ideas paid off this week. His track is really great simply for the fact that it is original and fresh. Matt’s just pure awesome. His voice, riffs and falsetto works perfectly for his song.

A tribute to Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai.

VICTORY SCREECH PART THREE!!

Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai were eliminated. Good riddance. About time, I say. Their performances overall were definitely weaker than the other contestants’. Lil was the first called, and was axed in an instant. She exited with an optimistic attitude, it was really nice to see her warming smile, even though she knew she was eliminated. All the best in the future, Lil! Meanwhile, Anoop wasn’t too happy. I think it’s the beard, it cursed him and brought bad luck or something. Oh well.

lil rounds

Matt Giraud was safe! I’m so relieved. America has finally gotten their facts right and their ear waxes sucked out and their brains in the right places. Allison Iraheta landed in the bottom three for the third time. Not surprising really, her fanbase situation is like Matt’s, sometime they’re strong, something they disappear. Kris Allen still managed to evade the bottom group, he’s bound to land in there sometime. He, Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert are the only people who have not landed in the bottom three. YET.

anoop desai

Major LOL-worthy group number choreographed by Miss Paula Abdul! I’ve got to say, I enjoyed it immensely. With the horrible lip-synching aside, the dancing was pure entertainment. How odd that Adam didn’t wear any sunglasses; all the other guys were. Kris looked ridiculous in his silver glitter shirt. Matt was the best dancer of the group in my opinion, his moves come off as natural, rather than rehearsed. Adam is in close second for best dancer. I loved watching the dancing rehearsal. Everyone was so into it. And Matt downloading his own song for his ringtone was super adorable!

Ummm, some people performed a disco medley. Didn’t really concentrate on that part, I could only remember Paula dancing her butt off. David Archuleta performed “Touch My Hand”! That’s really great, I love that song. Hopefully, it will be released as the third single. His advice for the bottom two was really mature and thoughtful. Good for you, Archie.

The REAL final five is now complete. Now, the competition begins.

Jazz Week for the top 5! I expect you to shine, Matty G! Don’t let us down now!

American Idol 8 – Top 7 v2 [review]

April 22, 2009

Disco week was a disaster. What an energy draining night. What is Idol thinking? Disco week? Seriously?

Lil Rounds – Easily the worst of the night. The original Lil is just gone. ‘Nuff said. The artistry bull was back too.

Kris Allen – Kris was brilliant, the best of the night in my opinion. He totally switched a disco dance song into something that suited him very well. The arrangements were great, so were the instruments he included into the performance. And his interpretation of the meaning of the song was hilarious. A song about a woman who has no money. Way to go, Captain Obvious! Hehe.

Danny Gokey – I had deja vu. It’s like watching “P.Y.T” all over again. Danny is so… standardized. Everything he does isn’t fresh anymore. The vocals were undeniably good, but everything was just so old. It was very forgettable.

Allison Iraheta – Nice outfit! When Allison appereared on the stairs and I was getting ready for an amazing performance. But she was kind of off this week, her rock vibe doesn’t incorporate with the disco theme very well. It was a bit awkward, but her vocals made up in the end.

Adam Lambert – Oh Adam. How I wish you’d get the first spot for once, it’s really unfair. Adam pulled it off again (duh) this week. It was like Mad World Part Deux. Adam should do more songs like this with his incredibly controlled vocals rather than screamy corny up-tempo songs. Oh yeah, he wins the most stylish award. Hands down. Very very classy.

Matt Giraud – Why oh why oh why… It’s frustrating that Matt didn’t nail it this week, when it was supposed to be his redeeming week to prove everyone wrong. Totally wrong song choice, no one should ever touch that song. That being said, I thought his vocals were amazing, the falsetto was brillaint and the dance moves were very smooth. It was definitely NOT desperate.

Anoop Desai – Failed pimped spot II. The beard needs to go, Anoop! You can keep the pink shirt though. Anoop started off steady, but when the tempo picked up everything crashed and burned. The end.

I’m having some issues with the judges’ comments. For some contestants, they congratulate them for showing variety, portraying different sides of them and singing different genres. While for others, the judges simply want them to perform certain genres which do not allow the contestants to expand, explore and show more variety, and that really frustrates me.

Tonight just proves everyone right that Lil, Anoop and Matt are definitely ones on the chopping block. I’m crossing my fingers and toes and hoping that Matt stays over Lil and Anoop. It’s about time that those two leaves, Matt deserves another week more than they do. But I’ve already admitted defeat, if Matt leaves, then I’m prepared for it.  :(

Danny is losing steam. I’m still predicting a Adam, Allison and Kris final three.

++++

My Top 3 2: Kris & Adam.
My Bottom 3: Everyone else.
Who Should Go Home: Lil & Anoop.
Who Will Go Home: Lil & Anoop/Matt

Whatever Randy is trying to prove, I still think that Season 7 is the best season ever. No contest. At all.

Happy Earth Day!

April 16, 2009

Let’s continue the war dance. SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE. There’s even a happy Matt in the cover art. Hehe. Here are the studio recordings this week! The Idols get mentored by Quentin Tarantino and perform soundtracks from various movies.

top 07

- American Idol 8 – Top 7 Studio Recordings -
Songs From Movies – Quentin Tarantino Week

Track List:

  1. Allison Iraheta – “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”
  2. Anoop Desai – “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)”
  3. Adam Lambert – “Born To Be Wild”
  4. Matt Giraud – “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman”
  5. Danny Gokey – “Endless Love”
  6. Kris Allen – “Falling Slowly”
  7. Lil Rounds – “The Rose”

My personal views: I really hate “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”; it’s been covered so many times.  However, Allison managed to make it fresh, so kudos on that. Anoop’s track sounds really good, it’s smooth and nice. Matt’s live performance did not do him justice at all, his studio version is superb.  I love Kris’, it’s one of the best this week. Lil always manages to sound better in the studio, if she can project the same vibe onstage, she’ll be a frontrunner by now. Not a fan of Danny and Adam’s tracks. Danny’s vocals sound very weak, and Adam, same ol’.

A tribute to the Simon Cowell for delivering the good news. PREACH, Cowell.

American Idol 8 – Top 7 – Results [review]

April 16, 2009

VICTORY SCREECH!!!!!!!

Hehe! It’s our second victory screech in a row. This time its 100000x better. MATT GIRAUD GOT SAVED BY THE JUDGES!! Hoot! I’m so freaking happy that whatever I type might be incomprehensible. So pardon me on that, and all the caps lock you’re going to see. *does the happy dance* Who cares that two contestants get eliminated next week. Muahahaha. All I know that Matt is savvvvvvved. Take that, haters. Lovers, REJOICE!!! SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE!!

matt giraud

It was definitely expected of Matt to be in the bottom three, since he was one of the weaker performances  yesterday. Anoop Desai landed in the bottom for the third week in a row, while Lil Rounds makes her second appearance as well. I do not think that Anoop deserved to be there, he’s done fairly well this week. By right, Lil should’ve definitely been sent packing long ago. She’s just a terrible performer. But I love her attitude, and agree with everything she said yesterday.

It struck me weird that Kris Allen has avoided the bottom three twice now. His score is lowest according to DialIdol.com; and he’s been safe on both times. Idol isn’t keen of losing him, he’s too precious. That being said, I’m happy that Kris is no where near the bottom. He’s my second fav after Matt. But I just think that there need to be some justice in this competition.

We can guess so far, the dynamics of the game. Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey are unstoppable. Their fanbases are massive. Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen are starting to pick up steam, and on the way, picking up more fans and favs from the judges. Anoop, Lil and Matt are the only ones who are still shaky, Idol doesn’t seem hesitant of losing them.

Miley Cyrus performs. Or rather, pre-taped her performance. It was kind of a snoozefest, her fair was so wild. Not a huge fan of the song. Jennifer Hudson performed as well, Idol is claiming her tightly. OSCAR WINNER! GRAMMY WINNER! ALL THANKS TO IDOL! Lol.

The group number was awesome this week, mainly because everyone had their own singing parts. The interaction between Allison and Simon was adorable. Best part is, Matt got the lead. HOOT! However, overshadowing much? Oh well, who cares. HE’S SAFE.

Matt sang his butt off!! He was so much better than last night. Kara and Paula were dancing like crazy. Simon you twit. Stop creating suspense! The whole audience was chanting ‘SAVE SAVE SAVE’ like mad. I was chanting along as well. In the end, Simon delivered good news!! WHOOHOOO! Everyone was ecstatic. The contestants were overjoyed for Matt. I loved their little war dance. Adorable much? Matt shed tears of joy. Awwww. ♥

The downside of this save is, Matt’s going to get a lot of hate for the next few weeks. The upside is, WHO FREAKING CARES.

GO MATT!!! SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE!!

It’s disco week (gasp!) next week. People, please prepare for major pimpations for Adam Lambert Glambert.

American Idol 8 – Top 7 [review]

April 15, 2009

Wow. Tonight’s performance can be summarized in one single word: trainwreck. Every single contestant fell short tonight. There was absolutely no standouts. And what was with all the duo comments? I mean, if you can cut the crap at the beginning of the show (all the ‘Your Highness, Simon Cowell!!’ nonsense), we would have more airtime for the contestants and the judges! Ridiculous.

Allison Iraheta – I thought she did decent, not too bad, not great either. It felt kinda old watching Allison perform this song, it reminded me so much of David Cook’s performance last year. Allison did her rock thing, and the judges are definitely starting to pimp her towards the end, ala Jordin Sparks in Season 6.

Anoop Desai – I really really hate to say this, but I thought that Anoop was the best of the night. It was smart of Idol to place Anoop in the second spot, this way he won’t make as much impact as those performing somewhere near the end. Anoop sang the tender moments on spot. Like Kara said, he’s definitely found his niche. But its getting boring, frankly. Enough ballads.

Adam Lambert – Idol just don’t have the guts to let Adam sing first do they? Another screaming performance from Adam. Like Simon said, there will be a group who love it and a group who hate it. I’m in the latter group. Amazing vocals no doubt, but all that screaming is just getting old.

Matt Giraud – I hate to say this too, but Matt was rather weak this week. He started off well with just the piano, but when the band came in it all just went downhill. Bummer. He could’ve killed it with just the piano. And more of the artistry bull from Kara. You can’t force the contestants into a box. They need to show variety. Hopefully he’ll live another week!

Danny Gokey – Danny tried to spice it up without his glasses. And it failed. He sang nicely, but just like Adam and Anoop, it’s getting old. Enough of Mr Emotion. The judges seem to be tired of it too. Simon hates harps. Hehe.

Kris Allen – Ouch, Kris. He started off good but then it just fell flat. I couldn’t feel the connection that Kris usually projects. It was definitely switched off this week. His voice didn’t suit the song at all.

Lil Rounds – This was soooo painful to watch. I wonder what Idol was thinking, giving Lil the pimp spot? She ruined it, I guess. “The Rose” is a beautiful song and Lil didn’t do it justice at all. It was so flat and toneless because she can’t sing those low, slow, soft notes cause Lil is a powerhouse. Her performance just went on and on. It was dreadful. And the Simon-Lil battle was immensely cringe worthy. I was hoping Lil would just burst into tears on stage, but instead she held them back and challenged Simon. I think that just sealed her fate that she’s going to be eliminated. Please just send her home already, I don’t think I can bear another week of them fighting. That’ll solve all the drama. And Paula wasn’t giving her props at all, she was telling Lil goodbye.

Simon was whacky tonight. He had so many facial expressions. From the vomiting to the eye-rolling, it’s like he’s tired of this whole competition, which is sad. There are some news flying around that Simon is going to quit Idol after this season. I really hope that doesn’t happen; Simon is the glue that sticks the judges together. And probably the one that makes the most sense.

What a horrible night.

++++

My Top 3 2: Anoop & Allison.
My Bottom 3: Lil, Kris, Adam.
Who Should Go Home: Lil.
Who Will Go Home: Lil.

I’m betting on a Adam vs Allison final two. Danny will fall short and land in the top 3.

Here are they studio recordings for this week! The Idols tackle songs from the year they were born. The right pic is up this time. Hehe.

top 8

- American Idol 8 – Top 8 Studio Recordings -
Songs From the Year They Were Born Week

Track List:

  1. Danny Gokey – “Stand By Me”
  2. Kris Allen – “All She Wants to Do Is Dance”
  3. Lil Rounds – “What’s Love Got to Do With It”
  4. Anoop Desai – “True Colors”
  5. Scott MacIntyre – “The Search Is Over”
  6. Allison Iraheta – “I Can’t Make You Love Me”
  7. Matt Giraud – “Part-Time Lover”
  8. Adam Lambert – “Mad World”

Nothing much special about this week’s studio recordings.  My thoughts  on this week’s: Danny, Kris and Lil had average, good performances, their studio versions are not much different either. Anoop and Scott’s come off as boring. Allison and Adam’s are interesting and nice to the ears. Especially Adam’s, it’s so haunting. Matt just blows my socks ears off everytime. He never fails to deliver.

A tribute to the respectable Scott MacIntyre.
